Designing a Life That Sustains You

I’ve had so many conversations with people who felt inspired to refresh, declutter, and reconnect with their space because joy isn’t a destination–it's a rhythm. So now that the energy has shifted and a new year is in effect, the question becomes: how do we keep the joy going? The answer? By weaving it into the way we move through our homes, the everyday energy we bring into our mornings, and the rituals that anchor us. I've laid out three ways I practice building sustainable joy into the spaces we create.

Layer for Feeling, Not Just for Looks

Yes, beauty matters—but so does how your space feel at 7 AM on a Tuesday. Think layered lighting, soft textures, and design choices that serve your real life. Your home should support how you want to feel day in and day out. There's one question I commonly ask myself to check in – Does this space energize me? Does it calm me? Does it reflect the life I’m actually living?

Establish Ritual-Ready Zones

This one is my personal favorite. Whether it’s a corner for journaling, a kitchen that invites connection, or a mudroom that starts your day in order, joyful living thrives when function meets intention. Every space should give something back to you.

Design with Soulful Details

From heirloom pieces to hand-picked art or a scent that welcomes you home—these are finishing touches that turn a house into a haven. Choose what’s meaningful and let it speak.

As we wrap up this message remember joyful living isn’t rigid. It’s forgiving, fluid, and ever evolving—just like you. As your needs shift, your space should too. Edit what no longer fits. Celebrate what still sparks something in you.

"It’s Not About Perfection. It’s About Alignment"
